    Will they target my landlord?

    Folks,

As part of an upcoming bankruptcy (July timeframe), I've rented a house (from an individual -- who does not yet know about the BK coming), and stopped paying pretty well everything else. Should I expect the collections, who are up to probably 20 times/day total, to find his name/number once we start using the new address?

    thx

No reason to find your landlord or contact him - he's not listed on any of your debts. Just put a message on your answering machine that clearly identifies you. The only allowable reason a collector can contact anyone besides yourself is if they can't find you.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

I rent a house in the barrios of Phoenix, and so far, no collection agency has ever contacted my landlord. There's nothing to gain. Arizona Law protects the renter's deposit from a judgment.
      The world's simplest C & D Letter:
"I demand that you cease and desist from any communication with me."
Notice that I never actually mention or acknowledge the debt in my letter.
