I stopped paying on my three credit cards over a year ago. I'm still unemployed, judgement proof. Set up my home phone to go directly to a fax line on the fourth ring. I have yet to talk to a bill collector.......

yes, it's those darn "recorded" messages and "auto" dialing...what a pain.Originally posted by pikaroth View PostI'm dealing with it pretty well nowadays. I just like updating this thread on the calls due to, perhaps, new people stumbling upon the forum and all that. When I initially came here, I read a ton of threads, even older ones, to get a grasp on things or just to feel better in general.
Today, though, a new call! That's right, after all this time American Express got on the band wagon, even left a message on their initial call. The only hold out now is Chase, but I know they're coming (on a side note, while I have two CCs with them, both of them have, by far, the lowest balances).
As it is, Discover calls constantly, leaves a message every so often (usually a fairly lengthy message that ends up being deleted), and does not block their number. American Express just started calling, does not block their number, and left a message on the first call. BOA sometimes calls every hour, sometimes once or twice a day, they do NOT list their number, only "unknown," has never left a message but did, once, send a text message of all things.
Seriously, I truly do not mind the phone ringing, at least not yet. I can deal with that. What I DO mind is on those times I answer, they are NEVER there, ever. That gets to me.
i especially LOVED the ones that want you to HOLD while they GET someone to get nasty with you!
we had one that told us to stop buying food to pay them...i just had to laugh and told them to get a REAL job and life and maybe that would scare someone else but they were barking up the wrong tree...it's just some of things they said that are terrible.
but you're right, those auto calls are really bad!8/4/2008

We have a home phone line, but no phone connected to it. LOL. I used to have it connected, but the voicemails with the auto dialer got on my nerves, so I just unhooked. No one we care about knows our home number.
I almost wish I had though about the fax idea. That's awesome. Too late now. I haven't had a call in 2 weeks and don't expect any more forever.I may be smarter than an attorney, but I'm not one. No legal advice here, people.

I had a JDB that figured out my fax number and sent me a fax every evening, they called me during the day and even emailed. Since their fax number was on the top of the fax I waited until Friday really late, then I printed a reversed (black background with white text) "Don't Fax Me!" message on several pages of letter paper. I taped each page together and the then taped the bottom of the last to the top of the first... I let that puppy run all night. Scratch one toner cartridge! Never got another fax from that number.

Quick question. I am now sure I must have completely imagined this, but did I read somewhere that they do not call on Sundays? I thought I read that, and ever since the calls started, I have not gotten a single call on a Sunday. Until today. 8:00am today (Sunday!), and the calls began. All Discover and once from BOA. I guess my dream of a Sunday free day are dashed.Decided on Chapter 7: October 13, 2010; Retained Attorney: October 20, 2010; Filed Chapter 7: February 4, 2011; 341 Meeting: March 23, 2011; Discharged: May 24, 2011

No one has been nasty with me at all. My husband flat out refuses to talk to anyone on the phone, so I have to field all calls. I've had Chase be nice as pie and I took a survey after the call, they asked if I were more likely to pay them, guess they realized the honey/vinegar thing. I let the CU intimidate me, all the others, peh. One account, the rep did some acting, made her plea sound really urgent, my kid was standing there, and I refuse to discuss things in front of my kids, which I told her. A friend told me some of them work on commission. Crap1 called, was giving atty info and got hung up on. Fine. Giving out the atty info really helped to stop the calls. I don't know what info would be incriminating, I've told them I'd send out the payment on such and such date, that I would sign up for their payment plan, just to buy some time. Oh yeah, NCO said we have 30 days to come up with a case number or they start the calls again.Last edited by Okieblue; 11-21-2010, 09:27 PM.

They can call you on Sundays, Saturdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any other time they choose as long as it is between the hours of 8am and 9pm. Sunday is the best day of the week to catch many people at home and still in the bed.Originally posted by pikaroth View PostQuick question.
