The real answer was the law firm was using the lawsuit filing papers to pressure a settlement on the debtor to avoid a judgment, by agreeing to monthly payments.

Since your wife was actually served, if she doesn't respond within 30 days, they probably will move for a default judgment. Once they get the judgment they can try to collect by garnishing her wages or levying her bank accounts.Originally posted by joecitizen View PostLadyInTheRed is in the black!
