pre-bankruptcy counseling

Sorry if this has been asked before, but can any one recommend a pre-bankruptcy counseling service for the certificate.We are almost done with the paperwork needed to file 13, except for the certificate......

To be honest, I would like the easiest, quickest, pay over the internet, "we'll send you your certificate by e-mail" service.

I don't mean to trivialize the seriousness of a bankruptcy, but these prefiling sessions seem like closing the gate after the beast escaped.
Seems that a post-filing lecture would be more in order.

We used moneymanagement.org to take the course online; fairly painless (but also pointless, like you said). Good luck!

Are you trying to file Ch 13 on your own without a lawyer? (Please tell me you aren't!)

We used Hummingbird Credit Counseling and Education, Inc - http://www.hummingbirdcreditcounseling.org/ . Costs $49, easy, quick, and painless.

We all agree with you. Write your congresspersons to complain. They mandated this waste of time and money before you can file.

Hate to tell you this, but there's also a different after-filing but before-closing education class you are required to take as well before your case can be closed. This course actually has some value, especially for folks that file Ch 7 and quickly head right back out into the cold, cruel financial world.

No, I'm not. I can barely wade through the dregs of my credit report without wanting to shave my head and climb the nearest belltower.......

I also used moneymanagement.org. It was a TOTAL waste of time. All common sense. Gee, save money, dont buy stuff like DVDs, dont eat out much, etc. They will email or fax your certificate immediately. It is who our lawyer uses. Its $50 pre and $50 post. I could have used that $50 for much better things, like opening a SAVINGS account.

For pre bk counseling I used CCCS out of Atlanta. Then there was some confusion from the paralegal she had me do it through hummingbird. Then the lawyer determined that in NC they did accept CCCS...which I could have told them .

For post filing FM I used hummingbird.

I liked the hummingbird one better on the pre even though I didn't get to use it.
