Stimulus rebate / tax refund - What happens to it in bankruptcy?

Mine was in my acct this morning.

There must be something buggy with the "Where's my Stimulus" link. I had no problems with it at all.

I actually think when it was deposited had more to do with the timeline of when you filed your taxes than by your last two digits of your ss#. But I do wish they hadn't promoted the fact that people would be getting it early because I started checking my acct for it every day

I've decided I'm not going to say anything about mine to my attorney. If the trustee wanted it, he's had enough time to decide and notify us. Plus ours is only the base amounts due to our net tax liability, hardly worth the trustee's time! Besides, we filed before it was even an issue. I would rather we had been discharged and closed before it arrived but for some reason, we are STILL waiting like PA Kettle I'm getting impatient (87 days and counting!)

I think it is more frustrating when your number is a lower one and people with higher numbers have gotten theirs or have a direct date from the linked page.

Ok I have checked threw out the day and every single time it tells me I made a mistake. Our last 2 numbers are 09 and the original day was the 2nd, so I give up on this thing, now I will just wait and see.

I guess you didn't read the whole thread. I said in an earlier post, that I FILED my taxes in February, but I haven't filed BK yet.

Disregard previous post, that will teach me to come in half way threw a thread!!

I thought for a minute that this site was a scam, but you can link to the same address through irs.gov, so it seems lagit. I am really counting on this $as I am getting 2381 back, I am holding off filling ch7 until I spend it.

none of those IRS people know anything! they ought to swim in the same vat as the lawyers that don't know anything either. most of them live in India and you can't understand a word they say.

I actually called the IRS earlier, and the rep was completely unfamiliar with the whole "wheres my stimulus" feature. Insisted they had no such thing. Referred back to the same old stupid, unupdated chart on their website. I could literally scream. Especially when people talk about higher numbers who have gotten theres or others due tomorrow who aren't in the system either. I really wish they would have never said a word about them coming earlier. Oh well, nothing to do but wait.

Don't bother calling, I was very polite and pleasant and got my head ripped off. He knew nothing about anything anyhow.

Okay, the site does not work for me either. I got out my 2007 return which was filled on 2/22/08 and entered all the information directly from the tax return to the site, still does not work. I tried 'Where my refund', and got it to work, but 'wheres my stimulus' does not work no matter what I try. According the the stimulus calc, I am due $2381 and my ss end in 05

Yesw i filed on 04/28/08...today i got a letter in the mail saying i have a confrence call on the 24th i think with the trustee. He sent me paper work clearly stating its the courts and to send it to him, unsigned.. Um hello i do direct deposit. Mine is supposed to be there tomorrow

gymbo: they are keeping your rebate?? it says in your information at the bottom that you filed bankruptcy 4/25/08 and taht you had a conference call on 5/1/07...

if you just filed perhaps that's why they are keeping it , do you owe back taxes and is it in your plan?

that's a shame. of course i don't know if i can keep mine yet or not, no one returns my call and i'm getting it tommorrow, I guess I will just put it into savings and wait.

I tried ours and it did not work but I also called my mom and tried theirs and it did not work either. They have not filed so it is more than just us on here
