Question Help preparing for attorney consultation...

    Hi All,

I'm going to meet with an attorney and would like some suggestions on important questions that I should ask him that will help me decide if he has experience in the field and would be a good choice.

Quickly I will explain my situation. I have 33,000 in unsecured Credit card debt. All past due by about four months. I have two mortgages ( one for 108,000/fixed 30yr, and second is 23,000/fixed for 15 then variable) second mortgage was to avoid PMI. I am exactly 2 days past due on both mortgages through CCO (Charter One bank) This is the first month I had trouble making the mortgage. I don't care if I keep the house or not to be honest. I have a loan on a 2008 Equinox and own a 1995 POS Beretta that is falling apart. That's it for major assets.

I Net 2400/mo. I tried Greenpath for a debt repayment plan but they said I don't have enough coming in vs. whats going out...I knew that but have tried to take all steps possible to avoid BK. That's about it.

Just looking for advice on questions to ask the attorney to make sure I feel good about my case.

    Thanks,

    Rob

Here are several good lists of questions to ask a bankruptcy lawyer during the free consultation:

Attorney, lawyer, and law firm directory to find a lawyer, attorneys, and local law firms. Lawyers.com is the #1 lawyer directory.

Find Research legal information and resources including law firm, lawyer and attorney listings and reviews on Lawyers.com.

One suggestion - take along a pad of paper with the questions already on it and jot down the answers you get for each one. It's hard to remember what was said during one consultation, and that problem increases with every one you do. Good luck - hope your quest ends finding a great lawyer to represent you!
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
