Yes, the lawyer attends the 341 Meeting with you, to make sure you dont' say the wrong thing. THe lawyer does all your paperwork, ensures that it complies with the law and local rules, and "represents you" at the 341 Meeting and, perhaps, any hearings required (which usually there are none in a straight-forward Chapter 7). You (usually) only need to attend the 341 Meeting.

If you are going to do it yourself, then you do not have a lawyer and you are filing pro se. If you do have a lawyer, then you do nothing yourself - that is why you are paying the lawyer - to do it for you. You seem confused.

uh yeah. The first rule of being able to "do it yourself" is realizing that you actually will be "doing it yourself".
