Thanks, Bobby's Girl. One of the ways I cope with my own bk stress is trying to help others here. It's the most positive side of this experience so far, and I'm really happy when it makes a difference for someone.

Wishing you and yours a Happy Fourth of July!!
Thanks for the supportive words, Jane - happy 4th to you and your loved ones too!

I'm feeling fine now thanks to two and half weeks of antibiotics. So far the hospital costs sent on to our insurance company is close to $25,000 - that doesn't include physician costs or any ongoing follow up visits and tests that will be required over the coming months. Luckily we have good health insurance through my job, but we'll still end up owing thousands. Our lawyer plans to add these required medical payments to our plan as soon as we know what the final hit is going to be in about 60 days. The way our confirmation is going so far, we are quite likely to still be unconfirmed then - makes amending the plan much easier! (Sometimes small bright spots can be found in every dark lining... )

Tires for the car which will be needed in the next couple of months or clothes I've desperately needed to get for about two years now but haven't been able to afford. It's a toss up.

(I just spent $400 today for new glasses. )

#1 - I'd buy some new tennis shoes. Maybe even two pairs! I'm still wearing the same pair I wore to my 341 meeting ... 2-1/2 years ago! (I've got some slippers I wear when my tennis shoes are being washed.)

#2 - I'd buy a few groceries and household things.

#3 - Put the rest in savings.

Update 2/15/11 - Still totally debt-free except for the mortgage, which we're paying down quickly!

Right now I'm dieing waiting for bills to come in. Since we've moved we haven't gotten a gas, electric, water, or sewer bill.

We might need the $250 for one of those!!
