He supposedly gave a very well addressed speak this morning. I only saw the first couple of minutes of it. But from what I've been reading...it was accepted quite well.

I believe he has done the best he can do to get out of the mess though...it is a big mess. I also think most people know that preacher is coming from a generation of segregation but things have gotten better since his day. There will be more questions.
I am still wondering what Michelle means by her husband being more at risk for being shot at a gas station because he is black. Things like that need to stop. There are better ways to promote & help your husband.

I think Obama is still missing the point here as it churches like Obamas that are teaching the children to hate & be racist as that church IS racist yet he still is a member. He is also backpeddaling but that is what they must do, is keep lying to cover up the lies so they can confuse the public & get into office- sad but all presidents do this, not just Obama.
First he says he never heard Wright speak that way then he says yes he has heard Wright speak that way. Which is is?

It is almost as if the bigger liar you are the better chance you have of winning & that is what I look for. What is weird about all this is I actually agree with a lot of what that Rev. Wright says, it just should not be in the church.

This issue is not going away and instead of Obama & ALSO Clinton, Bush, McCain- trying to sweep it under the rugs and dance across it, they need to KEEP addressing it because this is a bigger issue than the Iraq war as far as I am concerned as this hits home & will keep hitting home long after the soldiers come home from Iraq.

Trying to keep people from talking about racism, which sadly is very alive, is not going to make things better. Making people feel inferior for talking about the problem as if everyone who brings it up is a racist- is going to make it worse. You cannot silence things like this, it will keep coming up.

I also feel that the generation coming up now (20 &under) is the most educated on the subject and every generation it does get a little better. I also believe that the more people become educated on race though discovery in science, people will learn that race cannot be defined & really does not exist as there is only one race- the human race.

Of course we do not all agree on this but I do not think I am that far off base.

Had this shoe been on a Republican foot, even Allan Keyes foot he would have been damaged beyond repair. Not giving the man a pass on this one. I am known by my associates, my Pastor included. If David Duke were my Pastor you would have every right to judge me by that and you would be right. BTW my Pastor is Cuban and reads the MLK dream speech every first Sunday in February.

I don't have a liberal Pastor, I am not a Unitarian. he reflects my views as I am sure McCain's, Clinton's and Obama's reflect their thinking. As our pastor once said, "you have on the board what you want in pews" and we are a big mix. I don't know of any "white churches" in Broward, none but i can tell you their are many "black churches" where i am never welcome, having attended afew of them when I was younger, we lived in North Dade then and did some Church hopping. I am certain to be most unwelcome in Obama's Church having now listened to a service and seen the congregation and board (online) and gone over their website. I am uncertain as to Obama's Pastor's past, I rememeber that Ma' Bell began promoting blacks in the late 60's early 70's. My dad was there for forty years. i don't know what the man went through. I do know that a man called to preach the gospel, if it is the gospel has a different calling and a different nature whether white or black. That is as close to anti-christian teaching as any narrowed Southern Baptist who ever put on a white sheet, it is the same sick spirit, it does not lift anyone or help anyone.

sad, we may feel one way one day, one the next. I never recall being all hate all the time. That Pastor is horrible. I would like to know what event, act or mentor swayed his thinking. things were bad for older black folks.

I am in agreement with the entire post. It is like saying some young Senator from Pat Robertsons church for 20 years is going to run. It wont work without massive scrutiny. Though Pat does not make racist remarks that I know of, he has pissed off the entire globe many times with other issues. He could start a war. For awhile he was saying sorry every week. LOL!

The only other thought I could have, a little more truthful is maybe there is a lot of tithes & when you pay a lot of tithes it sometimes becomes political & other investments in a lot of churches. Tithes are public record & I am not saying that is it, it just makes ya wonder because you do not want to leave your investments as that gives you a certain amount of power within that church or religion and/or circle of friends.

I have to stop watching the news for awhile. This stuff makes people literally sick when you see too much & now it will be on the news for the next 6 months. ACK!

We do have freedom of speech but it can come back to haunt us or be used against us. OH how I have learned that for myself.

That reminded of the day I lost all respect for Bush was during his patriotic act when he cursed the constitution and called it:

That was the day I lost all respect for the man & realized he was not working for America. Either our nation is fast asleep or people just do not want to get involved to reveal these things & this is where I am forever thankful for the media using freedom of speech. A lot of people do not like that. I am still very thankful for it in areas like this but our tongues could never excercise enough caution & be prepared for the consequence. In these days it is recorded & used immediately while no one is going to get around it.

I am a very patriotic individual & love America but I do not like at all what is happening with the crooked leaders of it.

One other thought I had on the freedom of speech and elections is how some will try to say if you do not vote then you do not have a right to speak about the candidates or issues.

I do not know who started that but it is not true. Some people regret voting so bad that they wont vote for many years. Or some people will vote in the primary & not in the main or vice-vers & I guess they have their reasons. You still have your freedom of speech wether you vote or not.

The right to vote or not vote does not outweigh freedom of speech or not to speak.
I still believe that most Americans deep down still care about their country even if they do not vote. I do know the voting system has got to be changed & this D&R party system has got to change because it is not what it used to be.

What is it like 50% of Americans vote? Is that about a correct figure? while other countires almost everyone who can vote will vote. Why do you think that is so low in the states?

freedom speech is definitely relative... and rightfully so... as Bandit (Burt) might say "it depends on exactly where you are standing in America as to how free to speak you are". Obama needs to be willing to take the mans words and say I agree and that's why I go to this man for spiritual things, I would respect him more for that than denouncing the man now that it is all open. I doubt if he will have a chance in hell once everything comes to light. Words and associations mean alot. Yes, I know, lots of shady deals on the Bush side, of course tha is true. And no I don't believe that any sitting US President intentionally let 9/11 happen or Pearl Harbor (the truth is that the Enterprise THANK GOD was held up overnite by a storm, so no the Navy did not "send her out" to keep her from the Japs). I do believe that Obama believed that we deserved it and that he does not recognize the fundamental force for good that America is. If Bush let it happen then Bill Clinton was sorry when the WTC did not fall the first time. And I believe he was probably as angry as most of us.

We have rescued far more than we have destroyed, we have saved, liberated, aided and befriended far more than we have destroyed. America is the standard of good in the world, in Tienanmen square they were butchered brutally after erecting and rallying to a Statue of Liberty and refusing to leave. Abuse of black people, DEFINITELY. Genocide, no. Had the white majority been the brutal, uneducated of the third world the Civil Rights movement would have died quickly, they had the power to make it happen. THOUSANDS of white males enlisted in the Civil War to fight slavery, because of EVIL Christain teaching that slavery was a national sin. Yes, some did use that book to defend it but deeply religous East Tennessee had more abolitionist societies than existed in the entire north with all states combined.

America, evil? Give me a break Obama. Try Colombia where the "Monosusios (dirty monkeys, as the Colombian Oil Co. PetroCol named a tribe) are machine gunned from helicopters. Argentina succesfully wiped out every Indian in the Country by the turn of the century, the quick work began by an earlier Governor. The Hootoos and the Tootsies? A million dead, no America never did that. Eastern Europe with hundreds of thousands of hidden graves, no not that either. Nope, not 6 million either. Those are brutal, evil Countires, not America. And because we don't jump everywhere at a moments notice and consider our national interests first that does not make us evil. All the Kurds I see in pictures look mighty damned happy, some of the other Kurd pics look like they died after their guts turned inside out, of course that was before evil America invaded.

America Mr. Obama is a force for good in this screwed up world. Just look at the brutality and standards of many who come from the third world to live here in South Florida. Many of them educated, moneyed people, the cream of the crop. Many of them well versed in a third world brutality so unfamiliar to us that we have to abandon neighborhoods when they move in, black and white alike. Try being white or black American in certain areas of Hialeah or City of Miami, just try to order food in some places and see how the service is, listen to them talk about you when they think you don't understand. I've never been present in a store when a white person has done that to them. America, along with it's white majority is predominantly a force for justice and good.

Everyone has a right to speak their mind, whether or not they vote. However, I take my right to vote very seriously and NEVER miss a vote, even if it's a "lowly" local election. I think that these days, with absentee and early voting available, there really isn't an excuse for an American not to vote each and every time.
