    BK Friendly Auto Insurance Companies

I was curious as to what insurance companies were out there (besides Geico) that do not check credit when determining their rates, as I am nearing the expiration of my current policy and am seeing if I can find a better rate elsewhere. Thanks!

Call around and ask them point blank - Will you be snooping into my credit history to determine the rates?
Fist though check with your state's insurance commissioner's office if your state even allows this method of profiling.
    California does NOT.

If GEICO does not check credit reports, it is a recent change in their policy. I was flat turned down by GEICO about a year ago because of (they say) negative information on my credit report. I have a clean driver's license with no points or accidents.

          Go figure.

              AIG

If you are in Florida I can tell you that AIG is NOT BK friendly. Kept my home, NEVER BEHIND, kept my vehicle, NEVER BEHIND. Ten YEARS, no accidents, no claims!!!! After ten ONE claim for $294, I hit him. They sent me $350.00 for my damage, I returned the check. They then lowered my rates for six months. Then they did a once every two year or whatever credit check and hammered me every six months calling me a risk. They kept hammering me to the point that I switched tio GEICO over one year ago. I have had one claim for 1400.00 with them and have not been hammered. At rates that escelated from 2400 to over 4000 per year they got alot of $$$$ from me for that 294.00 claim.

I HATE FRIKKING AIG, they are blood sucking rotten bastards. BADjim how is your credit? If it is bad they may hammer you down the road.

AIG does seem to have the lowest rates, but God help you if you have a claim, at least in South Florida. Their Claims Department never returns phone calls and you can wait for literally MONTHS before you get any action or see any money. Their Customer Service is just horrid. The one claim wasn't mine, but my son's, who was still my dependent at the time because he was under 23 and a full-time college student. Someone broadsided him big time and his car was totaled. It took FOUR MONTHS for AIG to pay up. We are a no-fault state, so there really wasn't any reason for this incredible delay.

We had them for 2 years after BK but then switched to Progressive. Don't know if Progressive checked my credit. Don't care either, really. Have you seen the Allstate commercial? "And you, are you in good hands?" When we are involved in an automobile accident, we want to feel that we're being taken care of, not taken for an indefinite ride in the limbo roller coaster!

                Rant over.

Maybe AIG isn't so bad in other areas/states?

FLBK---- AMEN to that. AIG sent a "dude" to the house to look at my truck and assess the damage. GEICO, you meet them at the body shop. The work is guarranteed and was done well. So far, so good. NO INCREASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW FLBK- don't forget Lotto this weekend!

Already bought my five $1.00 tickets, plus I invested another $5.00 in the office pool. It's not much for such a HUGE pot, but it's quite a lot for me because I'm simply not a gambler. I generally don't buy Lotto tickets anymore, since the odds are astronomical. The Lotto program needs to be revamped big time, imo. I just figured that if I didn't buy any tickets this time, I'd have absolutely NO chance!

And BTW, it's not "this weekend." The Lotto is tomorrow night.

About Geico. I've been with them about 20 years-- for all insurance needs (way before they were on television). I have full forgiveness on auto accidents. I called to tell them what is happening. I will probably lose the car (I don't know yet) and will pay as normal on it. I also have their home owners insurance. I am fully paid up till January 09. All that they asked is that I tell them when I am forced to move out so they can cancel it on the house. They were perfectly nice, and I asked if my rates would go up and if I would be able to get Apartment renters insurance (which I recommend) when this business happens. They said they would be happy to do business with me, Bankruptcy and Foreclosure or not. I have always trusted Geico.

Ha ha, I almost never get lotto tickets but sometimes I get sucked into those office pools cause I think how bad would I feel if they all won and I was still stuck at my stupid job! Yes, SUCKER was written across my forehead last time I checked.

Not sure if there are any "BK friendly" insurance companies...but some states such as Massachusetts don't allow insurance companies to based a persons rates on thier credit history. Like some of the others have already stated just call around and directly ask the insurance company if they based rates on credit history/score.
