BKF new feature - Experience for points/levels/ratings

While I am so grateful for this forum as it has been invaluable during this process, I'm also not crazy about the awards and rating system etc. I hope it doesn't discourage new visitors from posting. I think we all try to help and share our experiences, but sometimes our experiences may not be as helpful because of the variations within the districts. It doesn't mean the post was not helpful or valid. I think we all have enough problems dealing with the emotional issues of bk, that having our participation and postings rated is really not necessary. Again thanks for the forum, but I hope you reconsider the rating system.

Well, for one I'm certainly seeing increased posting activity, although I will not attest as to content. What I honestly hope doesn't happen here is:

1. People start posting for the sake of "points" regardless of appropriateness of advice and/or fit.
2. The site works because newbies come here, learn, and start contributing as well (look at me). I hope this will not discourage them from doing so via intimidation or other factor, otherwise the usefulness of this site will suffer.
3. The site does not develop a few highly decorated prima donnas.
4. The more importance/relevance we give this particular issue, the more likelihood of our fears becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. So I for one, will simply no longer have an opinion about this and wait and see how it all pans out.

All in all, I am here to learn, discuss my experiences, share, and help others with my modest knowledge. I am absolutely not into drama. I fully intend on staying on post-bk to continue helping/paying it forward, but if drama starts becoming the essence because of who got more points or awards or whatever, the likelihood of me staying on naturally decreases.

Just my two cents. I hope this works out Laz, too good of a resource to lose.

I want to know where this feature is located? I've searched under every category in SETTINGS and there is no option to turn it off...?? Am I missing something?

What if I don't want anyone to see my reputation?

You can disable the display of your reputation by going to your User CP and selecting Edit Options. On this page you will find a check box labelled 'Show Your Reputation Level'. Un-checking this box will remove the display of your reputation and replace it with the Reputation Disabled icon. You can still give and receive reputation while your reputation display is disabled.
