Minced, processed ham meat that is formed into a rectangular block and canned. In the old days, there was a key attached to the can. To open the can, you hooked the key into a little tab and rolled a strip of metal away around the can to get the top off. The *meat* was usually sliced, fried a little in a frying pan to brown it, and served on bread or a bun. It was a food staple during the 1950s, because it was inexpensive, and Hormel still makes it today.Originally posted by tobee43 View Postyou are prime today drowning ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yuck spam...what is that anyway????"To go bravely forward is to invite a miracle."

Spam was invented in WWII and was "spiced ham". ergo, SPAM. It is junk meat like off of the head cheese area. Then the troops got "chipped beef on toast" then know as S.O.S.
Now, both are sold today and S.O.S. is a very good dinner, if you cannot find an M.R.E. to eat. The last of WWII's C-rations were eaten mostly by my brother in the Viet Nam era. He loved them, but now he is terminally ill from what they call agent orange, or, perhaps, spam. 'HubIf I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.
