Got Served Today for Someone Else!!

too funny, we have lived here (in this house) over 2 years but purchased this property feburary of 2011, so that's almost a year now.

we are constantly rec'ing mail for the previous tenant; giving it back to the post office etc. collection letter after collection letters, tax bills from what, i'm guessing is some other property he must have owned...i dunno...just dealing with this guys mail is too much. we have told the post office to many times to count it's just become silly at this point.

the funny thing also, is, when we moved here and got a "new" phone, of course it was also an issue because AGAIN that person (not the same person who lived here), owed everyone and i have posted about that situation before. i was able to stop that by turning all those collection callers in to the FTC.

so today, while i'm busily cleaning and pretending to be domestic, the bell rings and it's this older gentleman stating he has a delivery. that was funny too, because not 5 minutes before his arrival UPS delivered a box and i am expecting a few other things. i glance down to the ground to see if there is a box, but all i see is him holding a clip board. so i ask him what it is your are delivering? he held up this ....and i mean THICK unreal, summons..had to be...no exaggeration over 100 pages LONG!!!!

he asks me if so and so was home? NO so and so doesn't live here. i'm ok, this is quite enough now, do you NOT check the tax records or the real estate records? how bout even zillow or maybe the post office???? you think... even??? holy cow.

so i tell this guy hit the road and he says what's your name (who's your daddy...LOL!) nope he didn't say that..but he ask our names, when we purchased the house and so and on, and i told him i don't have to tell you anything, leave my house or i will call the cops. not that i don't understand your job, but i'm telling you this guy doesn't live here and now you want my information? what are you nuts? have a nice day!

    what a world!

so... are YOU eligible to collect for violations?
That would be a lovely result.

            This is too funny!

I used to get collection calls for the previous owner of my cell phone number all the time. He eventually got sued and lost by default. I looked his name up on the Maricopa County court system. Then they were calling trying find out where he worked so they could garnish his wages. So, I gave them a lot of false information about places where he "worked." Mainly local porn shops and gay bars. I wonder what they thought when they started getting all these attempts to garnish the wages of someone who they didn't even know, and I wonder what the local attorneys thought about his places of employment?
            The world's simplest C & D Letter:
"I demand that you cease and desist from any communication with me."
Notice that I never actually mention or acknowledge the debt in my letter.

ROFL!!!!!!!! i should have thought of that darn it!!!

the server said yesterday he was suppose to serve 2 doctors and both their names and addresses were wrong. i told him, he's lucky today, but someone may not be so happy with his presence when it's unwarranted and he's working for a firm that's so far gone with their information!

actually, we don't even know when this guy lived here because when we leased option to buy this place, we were told it had been empty for a year of two! the owner lived out of county and just didn't bother to rent it again after that i left, we are guessing, we never asked him. really weird!

I used to get collection calls for the guy who had my land line phone number before me.

I got rid of most of them but this one collection agency wouldn't stop calling. I told them repeatedly to take my phone number off their system.

They would blow me off or say they were taking me out of their system, then keep on calling. I started logging their calls.

And I wrote my state's attorney general. I had their phone number, names, times etc.

About a month later, I got a letter from the attorney general saying they had contacted them and the company said they would stop calling. They finally ceased calling me.

Then the end of last year I got a letter that I could join a class action suit against that company and that I would get at least $150 in the settlement.

So sometime this year I should be getting that check.

So I keep track peoples! They are investigating the collection agencies.

You haven't seen funny until one Saturday morning two police officers are pounding on your front door. It's 6AM and you're tired. You open the door and one cop is standing to the side with hand on weapon and the other is staring you down. I was so relieved when they asked for the previous tenant. It ended up being a warrant from the adjacent town so the town police and the city police were at my door.

I laughed at the end and told the police that this person actually owed me money since he rented the place from me in the past. I moved into the place because he had abandoned it months earlier!
