I am baffled about the second one,the letter attached is from the alabama attorney general.

First check is from the Settlement of the "Independent Foreclosure Review". (everyone got different values from $300 up depending on their situation)

Second check is from the "National Mortgage Settlement" (everyone that qualified (smaller set than the first one) got the same amount $1484.21).

2 separate settlements, the first one was instituted by the OCC and the Federal Reserve. The second one was instituted by the Attorney Generals of 49 different states.

Tobee, I bet it's on the way. You'll get it. I believe they were only supposed to start going out on the 10th, and given
how unreliable Rust Consulting has been, I bet they were late in getting them out.
If your house was foreclosed by one of the 5 big banks, between something like 2007 or 2009, and the end of 2011, you'll
              get a check for $1484.

well then i might not get it chase has never actually foreclosed on our property and it's been just over 5 years. they filed i have the records and the case number, but they never followed through. so the house just sits. i wonder if that will effect our getting a check? we do fall into the category you listed as far as the dates.
                and thanks! so much!

I got a check for $400 and then a check for $1000....this was almost a month ago..so does that mean their is yet another check for 1484.21??? As it was noted the checks for the $1484.21 are just starting to go out????

well maybe we didn't get one because chase never actually foreclosed on our old house.

we were just talking about it, and frankly, we just so happy to have gotten rid of that mess of a house it would have been worth it for us to have paid the bank to have left it! we are grateful for anything we got or have gotten, especially having gotten out of that house! LOL!

I believe for the $1,484.21 check, you actually had to respond to one of Rust's mailings and fill out their claim form. Another case of me sitting around and saying, "What's the point of putting in the effort" and throwing it in the trash.

Cost me $1,484.21 and 1/2 of whatever I will receive from the other settlement.

                        Live and learn.

For the National Mortgage Settlement there were different requirements than the other one, first you would have had to have actually been foreclosed on. Secondly you would have had to have submitted a claim. A significant percentage of the eligible people never filed a claim ( that is why the payment originally would have been like $840 but ended up being $1484 because that many people didn't submit claims). If you are not sure if you submitted a claim then you can call rust to check.

i didn't fill out the docs either. and, i knew it wasn't a scam because i called the occ and they confirmed it was for real. i just didn't bother, i had too much on my plate and it wasn't a priority. i still didn't feel exactly "safe" getting this request for all this information after everything we had been through with chase. so even tho i know the occ said it was for real, i still had my doubts.

again, i have no room to complain

To File for a review with the Independent Foreclosure Review (the one through the OCC) you had to fill out alot of information. To file a claim for the National Mortgage Settlement was if I remember properly like 5 questions and it was just checkboxes/multiple choice. (they were simple questions like "was your house foreclosed on"... "did it create hardship for you"... No real personal information was required for the National Mortgage Settlement claim if you were eligible. The entire claim was a postcard I believe.
