Opening new checking account 2 months prior

to filing bk, to take advantage of bank's promo that pay $250ish for new accounts. Would this be looked upon on "pre-planning" bankruptcy, and more importantly, possible fraud?

I’m confused why you think it could be viewed that way... what’s your thought?

Not sure actually, I mean, I'm not looking to defraud anyone, or hide assets...

It's fine. In fact, you need to move your checking account if you owe money to that bank or credit union or risk having that money drained (offset) your debt when they find out about your BK.

I don't see any issue with moving bank accounts. In fact, many of us here on BKForum suggest moving your "demand deposit" accounts (savings, checking) away from where you have bank credit products. It's just a precaution.
