For my 7, my medical bills average around 2300 a month.

    Sadly, I can prove it.

Barbisi, can you really pay your bills? Perhaps it is time to sit down with pen and paper and list them all again. Or, have the surgeries (didn't want kids so the hysterectomy literally saved my life from horrible fibroids and endometriosis-I was bleeding to death, although slowly plus get physical therapy-not the Chiro- managed to clear the ulner nerve irritation, carpal tunnel surgery was fairly easy to recover, and work out payments for the DDS - even ental schools are good), and with the uncovered amounts piling up, now have a sit down with the lawyer. Redo the 13 or convert to 7. The last thing to do is suffer in pain as insurance wwill eventually run out and medicare pays even worse, recovery from procedures gets harder as we age, and if pain pushes you to opiods, get off as soon as possible as the more those are used, the less likely you will return to any useful function. Best of luck!

Hi Maria30386! Thanks for the detailed advise but the symptom I 'm having from the fibroids is a permanently bloated belly which while unattractive doesn't prevent me from exercising .The carpal tunnel and ulnar likewise doesn't cause symptoms for now - it's more the chiro care I need to continue to function is very expensive ($60 per visit ) and now these dental issues (an extracted tooth followed by an implant) are not things I was expecting nor are easy to save for. Our mortgage payment will be more than $2200 beginning in May (a $90 increase! )
plus the mandatory $90 per month for the worthless solar panels. That is more than $2300 ! But if we sell the house now or let it fall into foreclosure ,we would walk away with nothing and still have to pay the Chapter 13 because my husband earns $95000 (on paper) a year. Now if he loses his job or one or both of us are diagnosed with cancer than we would have no other choice but to try to convert to a 7. The lawyer made it very clear when I thought I needed a metatarsal bone in my foot removed we still had to somehow pay or else! He warned us the trustee would revisit all the exemptions he had granted but didn't like and raise our payment! I think we are trapped in this current plan until something catastrophic happens. (God Forbid! )
Today I'm going to my dentist for the extraction, estimated at $500 (a collagen plug/bone grafting (?) is included. ) Wish me luck on a quick and virtually painless recovery - I'll need it!

Good luck with the teeth! I'm getting my first cleaning after jaw surgery shortly. I think I'll be like a 2 y/o squirming and hopefully, not screaming too loudly. . .

Just a thought, if you can fit it in, see if you can get a consultation with a few other bankruptcy attorneys. I've read several posts on this site where an ungodly payment amount turned into something more reasonable once the proper unafraid or non-burned out lawyer was found. In my own case, I was turned down by several, and just filed with the right guy today. 14 days for all the paperwork to be done, 6 weeks for the 341, then the 60 day club.

Also, if the solar panels are non-functional, can you have those returned to the company that installed them? The panels on a friend's place cut his electric bill more than $200 a month, and that was before the Phoenix Sun turned the area into an oven, those months cut his bill more than $400 each month.

Now I'm facing a tooth extraction followed by an implant which I can't afford this year and probably not next year! I only wish these teeth problems ( I still need another new crown! ) could have started in 2016 when we had sufficient credit to pay for expensive dental care!
OHHHH BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!! my extractions bone graftng were fine, and i healed great but i still cant afford the 4800 implant! I still owe the dentist 297! my chapter 7 was discharged and things are starting to look up, except the dental stuff!! i swear i need to win the lottery and just get a whole set of implants on all my teeth. a bottom left crown also broke off ugh!!

so I KNOW YOUR pain, and i remember you posting on my thread, so I will check back with you!

Hey brokenj, so glad to read you're done with your BK7! At least you're not in pain any more and you were able to get the bone grafting done.
My extraction (courtesy of my regular dentist) was straight from hell -two and a half hours nonstop (except for bathroom breaks!) and a huge gaping hole which mercifully has finally healed (It's been two and a half months!) It was touch and go for a while whether I would get an infection (I was lucky!) but I resolved to never let him do any other "new" work (including mini-implants) and as soon as he finally finishes the crown I paid in full for in January(!!!!) , I am finding another dentist! (The permanent crown should be cemented on July 23 after it arrives from California.) He was totally out of his depth and he should have referred me to a qualified oral surgeon, instead of almost botching the extraction. He did not do the bone grafting - something I will have to pay some one else to do far later than it should have been done. Instead he stuck 4 collagen plugs in my socket and charged me nearly $400 just for them . As far as I can tell, they are only filler and at best maybe prevented dry socket.
To say I am disappointed is a gross understatement - I should have waited and let a real oral surgeon remove the tooth, not an arrogant 72 year old regular dentist who actually derided oral surgeons to my face (after I complained about how he conducted my extraction!) He even had the gall to blame me, telling me I had bad teeth anyway and this was to be expected ( after he didn't even schedule enough time for the procedure and even turned one patient away, because the extraction ran way overtime!) I am remaining civil to him for now because I can't afford to pay for another crown and until he finally cements the permanent crown I have to be restrained.
I panicked and tried to avoid an infection like you had, brokenj! I honestly don't know if I'll ever have enough money to get the implant or even if it's possible after this botched extraction -only a genuine oral surgeon can tell me for sure!
Please post again and let us know how you're doing! (Take care of that broken crown - you don't want to lose any more teeth! )

Hi, Maria80386 , sorry I didn't respond sooner. After the nightmare tooth extraction, I wanted to wait until the danger for an infection was past. (Three weeks after the tooth was removed the dentist was warning me the condition of the socket was "delicate" and I could still get an infection!) As for the solar panel they function but are not saving us $91 a month . (The iron clad lease runs another 15 years, so if we are so fortunate as to be able to sell before the lease is up, we will either have to pay them off (i.e. buy them outright) or get the buyers to assume the lease for the duration.) There is a house for sale in our neighborhood that we are watching. Hopefully it will sell above the asking price and not below because of the solar panels.
