I'm tired of hearing the word "maverick".

And "Well, what you need to understand is..."

Oh, the campaign is over, sigh.

And whenever I hear someone calling someone a "Dude" - I always think of the Matt The Hoople (Ian Hunter/David Bowie) song "All The Young Dudes."

If you know all the lyrics to the song, you'll know what I'm thinking about those dudes...
“When fascism comes to America, it’ll be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross” — Sinclair Lewis

First thing that comes to my mind is my boys saying " are ya excited " sometimes when I am telling one of them something. My oldest started it and now my youngest has picked up saying it. I am not sure where my oldest picked this up at but it really irritates me !

My husband is a truck driver and we were on the road for 5 years. The one that always drove me crazy is when, referring to a significant other, someone says "old lady" or "old man". That just sounds very disrespectful to me. And if you are a truck driver who has ever been in the south you might agree with me on "i've got my pretty pink panties on, and i'm going to bed". This was repeated on the CB over and over(by a guy).

Let's see: it rankles me when ostensibly educated people mispronounce "nuclear" - for instance, our lame duck President...

And forgive me for this one- but a fairly significant portion of the population seems to think that the word "ask" should really be spelled "aks"

              Old habits die hard.

                is...is

(Example: the reason is...is that ...)

If you have kids.. Its... "I dunno". If you have employees and ask why they didn't do something it's "I forgot"

                  So.. "I don't know" and "I forgot"

So when the kids ask to do something I say "I dunno"

                    haven't seen this one

What drives me crazy is, "Buddy"; esp. addressed to someone you have just met. My husband has started saying this to every guy he meets!! Total strangers!! If he really knew the guy he probably would not think he was "buddy" material.

Funner - should be "more fun"
                          Flustrated - should be frustrated
anyhows - Huh, WTF is that?

It also drives me nuts when people type the wrong word.
                          Affect - Effect
                          Road - Rode
                          There - Their

Anyhows, there are more but I am too flustrated to remember. It would be funner if we had to use them all in a sentence. lol

I also call my husband and dad "dude" to irritate them. hee hee
THey will ask, "Did you just call me dude?" I will reply with, "yup dude!"

All over the internet forums you see "loose" for "lose". I have never read a forum where I didn't see this.

One that drives me nuts, though, is making "realtor" 3 syllables.
Saying "real i tor" instead of "real tor".
