    I hate the UK

I really do. They changed our reference number for our council tax (similar to real estate tax) and we have been paying to the old one. They sent us a warrant letter stating we have 7 days to pay the balance or they send a sheriff. WTF? Not our fault we have been paying on time but they didn't notify us of any new reference number. Of course with the postal strike we didn't receive the letter until the 6th. It's a common thing here with the council messing up. As if paying 7 dollars a gallon for fuel wasn't enough they find other ways to screw us here. Anyways just ranting. Can't wait to move back!

May as well stay there. Just past in House 'Bammy care. New taxes to start right away, "free" health care to start in 2013. Fuel priced escalating, USA going Socialist at lightning speed. Unemployment for all those "shovel ready" jobs are now being turned into new Government jobs to regulate more of what we still have left of our freedom. Those who know how to use a shovel, still can't find those "ready shovels" yet.

When you move back, you will feel right at home. From one Socialist Country to another. 'Hub

Sorry, but you are wrong. It passed the house. It has not yet passed the Senate nor has it been signed into law.
I would suggest you read a little before you go off the deep end.

Did you intentionally forget about all the unrepairable mess that eight years of capitalism drove the country into?

Alright....here we 'go': Nobody went off 'the deep end'. Instead Angelinas observations were indeed well written and totally reflect my sentiments/observation !
To add: GOD BLESS THIS COUNTRY ! (for we sure in hell need it)

When they imply that new taxes are to start right away an imply that a bill that is still in the stages of being passed vs. passed it's stupid.
Everyone has a right to an opinion but people that jump the gun and start rumors are ridiculous.
Some people read this stuff and then they go off the deep end thinking it did pass.
For the most part, I think people would be better off to just avoid politics and religion in their discussions altogether.
Too many arguments due to differences of opinions.

As America is truly faced with 'cannons' into our faces, Angelina certainly did not 'jump the gun', and I for one find her response to the OP not only accurate, but also refreshing.

Interesting how some keep ranting about "...it would be better to just avoid politics and religion in their discussions altogether" (typical by the way...)while they themselves appear to not be able to shut their flap, and sink back into the deep coma of hallucinations that obviously are caused by smoking some heavy shit.

I think that sort of thing could happen with anything, anywhere, not just a UK government body. If you call or go to the office, they may see the error and easily be able to rectify the situation. If you have proof of payment, there should be nothing to worry about even if a sherif did show up at the door. I had that happen with my water bill here in the US. I showed a copy of my cancelled check and it was rectified. Mistakes happen.

As far as the $7 a gallon gas, it's gone to fund some things we lack here - like decent rail transportation.

Using your definition of "socialism" it sounds like you also believe that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are also socialist programs?

But in any case, the Health Reform Bill only passed the House, and is now headed to the Senate where it faces serious hurdles. It is nowhere near law status.

Oh come on it isn't that bad there. Sure the unemployment rate is high, but if it was so bad why is the traffic still horrible? I mean if I was unemployed I'd be staying home apply for jobs online. I would probably get rid of my car since I won't be able afford it. Some how there is still traffic! Go figure. I will be poor but at least the weather is better. Hell I'm already poor here but at least in America I can drive for cheap, well compared to here that is.

oh btw I've got nothing against socialism. it works for canada, why can't it work for us?

I agree. There are threads for politics and religion and that's where these conversations should stay. I've grown tired of reading political crap in the other threads.

And this is just what the marxist want you to do while they are taking away your freedoms. When did the roll of government change to take care of us. Who wants that crap? The lazy, the drunks, drug addicts? If you are down and out, then that is what private charities are for. We have a a lot of citizens that have the mind set of what the government can do for people.

HRX= If you think the previous 8 years of capitalism are bad, what do you think of the 1 year of government take over? Are you waiting for your share of handouts?

KenShirly= Read the post from Hub that you immediatly commented on. He said the house passed the bill then you say it only passed the house.
