I am on a different computer and not my laptop. The ad now is for a 'free' credit report.

I should say that we just recently upgraded our router from Comcast...

ETA: Now it has switched to an ad for AT&T phones...

My view shows advertisements listed as regular posts. As I scroll down, there will be post #1, #2 and #3, then, instead of post 4 there is an ad, listed as “#adv”. Below the ad post #5 appears.

Just like TB mentioned, the identifying information on the left side of the post is:

Links (Instead of Screen Name)
Circuit advertisement (Instead of “registered user” or “moderator” )
Join Date: “Always” (Instead of October, 2010, for example)
Location: “Advertising world” (Instead of State or “private” for example)
Posts: “Many” (Instead of actual number)

The one I am seeing as I post this is for www.chapter7.com. At least it is bk related.

My question is. . . Do advertisers really think we pay attention - other than to comment like we are doing now? I know I don’t. Maybe that is why the ads are more “in your face”. There is this one forum I frequent where the ad follows you as you scroll down. Really annoying. No matter how “in your face” it is, such still won’t make me click on it.

I'm seeing them as posts usually the 2nd post on each page of a thread. Some are tailored to my search history....crrrreeeepy. Google does this everywhere now. (if you've seen Idiocracy, it's like that.)

I am getting the ads also. It is always in the 2nd post. Just started about 2 days ago.

Who/what is Links? He/it is everywhere! I get ads in the second post of every page of a thread. So if a thread has 2 pages, such as this one, then I see Links at post 2 on the first page, and post 2 on the second page (which would be reply # 17, but is marked as # ADS).

I logged off and viewed the site as a guest and could see the ads you are talking about. They are from the same source as the ads at the top of every page that help pay for this site to exist. I don't know if it is intentional that they now appear within threads to look like a member's posts. The issue has been brought to the attention of the Administrator, Laz.

Quite frankly, if the placement of the ads are necessary to keep the host's revenue source and thus keep the forum running. . . so be it.

Just don't think it really creates income for the advertiser.
