Ummmm, I was joking in the sprit of the thread. I guess I should have used some emoticons to make it more obvious. But, thanks for your sympathy anyway.

I work with wondeful attorneys that have the best interests of their clients at heart, desipte the reality that they are working to make a living. In my experience of working with attorneys for over 20 years (including bankruptcy attorneys in my first legal job), that describes the majority of them. I am actually very fortunate to have the wonderful job I have. I receive calls from head hunters now and then and tell them I am very happy where I am and they are wasting their time talking to me. After just getting a 6% raise the day before leaving on a 2 week vacation, that is even more true.

lady, Congrats!!!!!!!! 6%!!! unheard of now a days. you must be good right before vaca too, how nice is that! you truly are blessed.

as far as msb and des, they are, indeed, the exception to the rule for all to know. i have worked for both good attys and bad, on occasion there have been a few great ones. i have said it before and i will say it again, whether msb and des believe it, after over 25 years in this field, i have to say it is rare to find those on a level even close to des and msb; period. i say that with conviction and experience.

the perception of the public is usually based on their personal experience on the bad side of the spectrum, as one rarely hears about the good or great, which is unfortunate. i'm certain the company des and msb keeps in their profession lives consists of those who's mindsets and ethics are similar, but not all are fortunate enough to have hired a des or msb.

Pirates? No, no, NO! We are SAILERS, dear lady. Rescuers. We have repented and our days of being in cahoots with creditors' lawyers and trustees are behind us. We are now making our money the old-fashioned way, we're EARNING it -- to coin a new phrase, for us at least. Rescuing distressed ships off the coast of Somalia and returning the ship and crew to the lawful owners is now our chosen occupation. Lawyering / pirating is the furthest thing from our minds.

We are in good spirits, though this boat is not AT ALL like the one pictured in the internet 'help wanted' ad that we responded to. That boat, we are informed, is in for repairs. We weren't expecting anything like luxury, this being honest work and all. But this boat is TINY compared to the one in the picture. And it doesn't have anything even remotely resembling a wet bar that was advertised, the closest thing being this huge bottle of cheap rum that is passed around consantly by our shipmates. Bedding consists of a thin blanket over a metal bed and the food is -- well, that's deserving of its own separate post. But we are grateful for whatever we get, because that's how we've resolved to be from now on. Honest and grateful and not like the politicians, as Karm43 and Andy158 so aptly described us as having been.

Distressed ships are not as common as I thought they would be. Our captain spotted one on the horizon yesterday and we made toward it as fast as we could, but as we got close they ran like the wind and we lost them. No 'thank you' from them or anything. Strange. Local customs, I suppose. But I guess they got their ship repaired just before we got there and didn't need our help after all. Our captain has informed us that often times the crews of these distressed ships will resist our rescue efforts with all their might. He said that being rescued is a serious ego-blow to the crew of the boat being rescued and that we should be prepared for it, but that we must rescue them in spite of their resistance. He keeps this big menacing looking rifle slung over his shoulder at all times for this very reason. He is a good man.

As for wenches, we'd love to have them, but I don't think this boat is the kind of environment most wenches would appreciate. Besides, the captain said that when we return to shore with a rescued boat and once the owner pays us for rescue, that wenches by the dozens come in from all over the place to greet us rescuers. Maybe you could visit then?

There is a lot of idle time. Des has been taking advantage of it by teaching our shipmates to speak some English and has had a good deal of success. Every last crew member can now curse a blue streak in perfect English.
