We are signing today and the attorney if filing this Friday, so no, we signed nothing yet.

Regarding petition reviews, we reviewed two drafts over the last week before approving final. I think it was kind of unusual given what I've read here; most people just apparently review at their signing, which I think is a mistake. We just asked our paralegal to email us a draft for review prior to the signing and with enough time for changes and further review if need be. They delivered.

I spent literally months trying to decide to file. Even after I was sure I would need to file, I kept trying to figure out ways I could avoid it. I finally sat down one day, figured everything up on paper, and said - you know, if I go ahead and file, I could afford the bills I would have left after bankruptcy - and I wouldn't be going crazy every time the phone rang.

I started talking to lawyers within a week. Filed within a couple of months.


Here's the crazy part - I spent literally 1 1/2 years fighting with medicaid to get them to pay hospital bills for a period in which I was eligible for medicaid. There was someone at the hospital 'helping' me, but she had a very laid back attitude about the whole thing. Amazingly, within 45 days of me filing, I got notification that medicaid was paying everything.

I'm sitting here thinking now......if only I had filed earlier.......

I went and reviewed everything and then signed that day. I did find a few errors, but did not review it again after it was corrected. I did check the documents right after filing and everything was correct. You were smart to have them send you a draft. In hindsight, I wish I would have handled it the way, but for me it worked out fine.

we did the EXACT thing...i think we just both have attorney's that are more undated with electronic filing and computer smarts....

after hiring him, we did everything via email. he was an excellent communicator, always answered any questions we may have had.

so i'm certain's it's the document i mentioned before; Declartion under penalty of perjury for electronic filing....that's actually what the document is called.

yes, but prior to the actual filing. if it's already filed as of friday...it's good...and you won't need to change it anymore. they use the figures submitted at the actual "time" of filing.

yes....joe...BUT make certain....although you may be a pain to them, that you want a "corrected" copy. that way you have the FINAL work in your computer....make certain you file them accordingly...it gets confusing since the only dates you have are when you hit "properties" on the files...so rename them when you file them away...just for your records. we must have had at least 5 copies...it got a bit confusing since 2-3 came on one day.

Thank tobee, wouldn't have it any other way. Of course I'll request a final for my records. My attorney has been pretty good at naming the files for me actually, tagging them v1, v2, etc...lol.

And I just registered at PACER, so here comes OCD!!

And I just registered at PACER, so here comes OCD!!

LOL. I signed up for pacer right after filing and to be honest I didn't check it until earlier this week. Nothing had been updated since 8/4, so I didn't miss anything! I think the OCD will kick in after the 341 looking for a report of "no distribution". After that, I don't even want to know if anyone is objecting, so Pacer is off limits for 59 days!

This is it. Leaving now to go to bank, get cashier's check for attorney (I don't know why I don't want to use a personal check, other than I'm running out and want to delay spending $20 on another box..lol) and then to the attorney's to meet with my wife and sign! I'll post my feelings about this one post-signing yet pre-filing..LOL.
